How I opened my small business: Tap That Beer House Blog Series Intro

As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, start a self-pour taproom! Hi there, fellow beer enthusiasts! I'm thrilled to share my rollercoaster journey from a Covid layoff to becoming a proud owner of a self-pour taproom, serving up fantastic local craft beer in a cozy setting. I'm going to share the journey of how I opened my small business.

It all began when the turbulent waves of the pandemic pushed me out of my comfort zone.

I was at a self-pour taproom with my family when I looked around and nodded my head, "This,” I told my family. “This is what I want to do. I’m going to open a self-pour taproom near us.”

“Yeahooookay,” they replied.

“Hold my beer.”

Having been laid off, I saw an opportunity to turn my passion for craft beer into a thriving family business, so I started researching and writing a business plan right away. I embarked on this venture with determination and a solid business plan. And what an adventure it has been. (I still can't believe I did it.)

Our self-pour taproom boasts a remarkable 40-tap self-pour beer wall, showcasing the finest brews from local breweries. What makes us unique? Well, we are proudly woman-owned and operated. This mother-daughter duo is here to shake things up in the craft beer scene!

Navigating the realms of entrepreneurship was a whirlwind of emotions. From figuring out how my business plan would unfold into reality to mastering the art of the business side of beer, every day brought a new challenge. Yet, with my family by my side, we embraced each hurdle with a dash of humor and a shared love for great beer.

As a first-time business owner, the learning curve was steep, but the rewards were sweeter than Raspberry Lemonade Cider. Seeing patrons gather around our self-pour wall, sampling unique flavors and sharing hearty laughs validated all the hard work and risks taken.

I'll be blogging about my experience as a first-time business owner. It has been an amazing and sometimes stressful journey that I want to share if you care. Let's raise a glass to dreams realized and challenges conquered, one self-poured pint at a time!
